ONCE UPON A TIME...
…in 1982. The internet was just a military project, and in Spain, there were antennas on every rooftop (like in Amélie ). It was a time when you checked the mailbox a hundred times until that long-awaited letter finally arrived, bringing news from so-and-so. A time when only one telephone line reigned supreme in the living room, and its use was strictly timed because it was so expensive…
Shortly after, the audiovisual landscape exploded. The (wild!) 90s arrived, much to the delight of Spanish households, who marveled at a plethora of private channels with wacky content. Japanese anime , Italian satirical shows , and, wonder of wonders, puppet shows that preceded the more codified programming of a certain French channel.
On the top floor of a brick building in southern Madrid, Roma García-Longoria discovered cinema with Disney's classic Fantasia , Kubrick's masterpiece The Shining , and Spielberg's E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial . In the summer, she wrote stories to keep up with friends. In the winter, during the (interminable) family meals where more than 50 people gathered, she enlivened the gathering with wicked princes, mischievous warriors, and cowardly dragons. Then came the plays, where sisters and neighbors performed roles she had written for the delight of a select audience of grandmothers and relatives.
Roma García-Longoria has always been fascinated by the art of storytelling. Since she was a little girl, she has devoured books (short stories, novels, biographies), comics, series and films.
Through her journey, Roma García-Longoria realizes that artistic creation is the energy she needs to express her vision of the world and explore her imagination.
After fifteen years writing storytelling for major brands and directing commercials, Roma García-Longoria has returned to her first love: the art of fiction screenwriting. Today, she writes and directs stories that, just like when she was a little girl, she sees unfolding in her mind's eye.
